Since Beautylish re-launched the limited The Air-Brush from Wayne Goss with a fast sell-out, I thought this is the perfect time to post a review on it. I've bought 2 when it initially launched back in summer because the price was quite fair, at $35 per brush. I've been already using & enjoying other Wayne Goss brushes with much love. His brushes speak quality & quality :^)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I did post a review covering all the other Wayne Goss brushes that I own <a href="https://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.kr/2016/07/fab-fav-brushes-part-1-wayne-goss.html" target="_blank">here</a>, but this post specifically focuses on The Air-Brush.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg90matdvmy_41irIsp80ePid1mxlqK7a5W7717OZ7mEa_VQxnIQt5ND9iCnrMQJcMdXI0URlmnGsoxZaJJ6y-SkrWZdSSsFa88vXWUAwdwCnTXFWr_-kXS8XATnt9MjQlbpWr2tF-HqPY/s1600/DSCF0416.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg90matdvmy_41irIsp80ePid1mxlqK7a5W7717OZ7mEa_VQxnIQt5ND9iCnrMQJcMdXI0URlmnGsoxZaJJ6y-SkrWZdSSsFa88vXWUAwdwCnTXFWr_-kXS8XATnt9MjQlbpWr2tF-HqPY/s640/DSCF0416.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm going to preface this post by saying that The Air-Brush is the softest brush in my collection of brushes. Mind you, I do have a fair amount of brushes considering that I'm not a makeup artist because makeup brushes (or any art brushes for that matter) are my main thing when it comes to makeup. My love for brushes has had me collect brushes & made me experience different types of brushes. The Air-Brush is made of natural bristles, meaning blue squirrel fur in this case, which is one of the softest bristles out there. Wayne maintains a very high standard when it comes to making his own brushes whether it be quality, the process of making brushes (handmade in Japan), cruelty-free aspect of animal handling, etc. Usually, Wayne's quality of brushes would retail at a much higher price, but because Wayne runs his brush business exclusively by himself with Beautylish for distribution, the prices are quite affordable for the quality. I really don't think you can beat his price for the quality. The Air-Brush, however, went above & beyond. I cannot believe the price for The Air-Brush. How is it possible?? I would easily pay double, or even triple, the price for the quality. Thing is, even at the triple of the price, it's hard to come by such a well-made, functional, multi-purpose brush as The Air-Brush. Please, take my word for it because I'm not just saying that.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Air-Brush manages to multi-purpose by applying face powder, blush, bronzer, highlighter... basically any type of face powders, you name it. The shape of the brush, a bit like flattened candle-shape, tapers to a smooth point, which allows diffusion/blending. The size of the brush isn't absurdly big or too small, which is perfect for precision with grace. I can tell that Wayne put a lot of effort to narrow down the shape of The Air-Brush to be multi-functional. The Air-Brush, as the name suggests, will give you air-brushed finish of powder application for the reasons I've mentioned before. I like using mine for setting my under-eye concealer because the under-eye area is the most delicate, sensitive part of my face. No other brushes manage to glide on powder there because I can feel some individual hairs poking the area, but not The Air-Brush. In terms of the strength of the application, it's about soft to medium, meaning that it doesn't give you the most intense colour application. The bristles are so delicate that it only picks up a small amount of pigment & lays down very softly. You can build up, but this will depend on the actual colour product.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I'm not sure what else to say about this brush. One thing to note is that you absolutely cannot use this brush for cream or liquid as it will ruin the delicate fibers of natural bristles. However, for powder, this brush is the softest.</div>

What happened to September/fall??? I totally missed updating this blog... Anyway, this haul happened months ago like when the weather was still stinking hot & humid. This past summer was very hot & humid to say the least, and now we're starting to shiver a bit. Winter is coming :^)</div>

I was originally gonna post a haul post, exclusive to Sephora, albeit it's a tiny-teeny haul, but time has allowed me to use & test the hauled products, so I'll write reviews on them as well.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
First up is the highly anticipated Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer Physical Defense SPF 30. I'm always on the hunt for a fav sunscreen (still haven't found one that I love). Drunk Elephant, as a brand, sounds like a sensitive-skin haven; they really aim to reduce irritation & help heal sensitized skin. Drunk Elephant skin care products are formulated in the most soothing way possible as such. As a sensitive skin person, I felt like Drunk Elephant's sunscreen would be a dream-come-true sunscreen formula. At the beginning of the use, I just liked it. The formula is quite heavy for my taste, and it didn't quite sit well on my skin, never fully absorbed. I had a hard time trying to work this out. After many trials, the best method to apply this sunscreen for me was to glide it on in different sections of my face. Does it sound a lot for sunscreen application? Yes, it certainly is. It's a bit annoying, but I just couldn't give up trying this sunscreen because of the ingredients. 20% zinc oxide! I've never heard of such thing. Considering such high percentage of the active ingredient (compared to 5-10% in usual mineral sunscreens) I think Drunk Elephant's Umbra managed to pull off really well, without being too noticeable or giving much of a white-cast (on my skin). It does contain mica (shimmery particles) to disguise mattifying property of zinc oxide, but I found it too chunky & it does show in certain lights.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
When I first started using it, which was in summer, I didn't have problem with it being too drying even though it contains 20% zinc oxide. However, as soon as fall weather hit, I found my skin parched & really dry as the day progressed. I ended up buying a heavy-duty moisturizer to layer underneath the sunscreen. Even with the moisturizer layered, I find it inappropriate for winter... It still gives me flaky skin because it's so mattifying. What baffles me the most is that Umbra is formulated with moisturizing ingredients like oils, but I find that it's not enough. Actually, during the application, I find the formula a bit too sticky & heavy, and it doesn't quite dry down... After midday, my skin is totally dried up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I don't think that I'll be purchasing it again. I must find a new sunscreen to try... Any recommendations?? (I can only tolerate physical/mineral sunscreens.)</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next is Sephora's own Pro Full Coverage Airbrush #53. I first discovered this foundation brush from Sabrina from The Beauty Look Book's post on <a href="http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/2015/09/next-level-foundation-makeup-brushes.html" target="_blank"><i>Next Level Foundation Makeup Brushes</i></a>. I always look for better, faster, flawless application of foundation/concealer. So when I was placing an order for the sunscreen, I decided to add brushes (of course I would, a brush fanatic me) to save some shipping fee. Win win.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've had some time to play with this brush, and I must say, Sabrina's absolutely right when it comes to fast application for the entire face. This brush is fairly substantial, probably the biggest foundation brush I own (and my face is quite small). It's really dense as you can see from above pictures, which mean pain for washing it, but you don't need to wash it as often as the traditional, paddle-shaped foundation brushes due to less buildup on the brush. This brush applies concealer well, although I haven't applied foundation with it (I just conceal wherever I want with a concealer), but I found it still a bit too streaky compared to Real Technique's sponge or Jaju's sponge. It's a nice brush though, and I'm happy to own it.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Finally, Sephora's collaboration brush with Hakuhodo. I've got Ougi Fan Cheek Brush. Sephora + Hakuhodo actually came up with 5 brushes, all nicely lacquered in red wooden handles, but the one I wanted was out of stock (the concealer brush of course), and Ougi was on sale, score!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ougi is made up of synthetic bristles, but the quality didn't really meet my expectations... especially considering that Hakuhodo is such a giant when it comes to brush making. They really excel in quality, but I found that the bristles on the above mentioned Sepohra Pro foundation brush is far softer & nicer than this collab brush Ougi. It's still nice to apply cream products like Jungsaemmool's Tinted Paste with, but I don't know if this brush is necessary in my collection. It did come with beautiful packaging... I'm not sure what to say more of this brush, but you can read more comprehensive review from Sabrina <a href="http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/2015/08/hakuho-do-sephora-pro-brush-collection.html" target="_blank"><i>here</i></a> where she runs down each 5 brush.</div>

Hopefully, I come with another post soon :^)</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: justify;">It just so happens that I've focused on one brand again in a single post. How convenient! Except, Rouge Bunny Rouge has grown quite big with its collection of makeup items (possible can't cover the entire brand like I could with Jung Saem Mool Beauty). Back story: I had been dying to get my hands on the Diaphanous Impalpable Finishing Powder, ever so frequently talked about from Karima a.k.a </span><a href="http://www.shamelessfripperies.com/" style="text-align: justify;" target="_blank">Shameless Fripperies</a><span style="text-align: justify;">. I've been reading her blog & watching her </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC18CjLdco5zmVfT-FtkUhAw" style="text-align: justify;" target="_blank">YouTube</a><span style="text-align: justify;"> channel for quite some time, and years after years, she's been faithful to the Diaphanous (on a side note: her beauty standard is like a soulmate to me, hands-down). Without a doubt, I decided to order at the Rouge Bunny Rouge website. When the parcel came in, I was thrilled, but inside the package, I saw another person's order (you can imagine my baffled face). I thought that I've ordered the Diaphanous, but I've received the Eye Shadow Palette Raw Garden in Antigo & Tinted Luxe Balm Dazzling Sip in Specks of Cerise instead. Apparently, someone had mixed up my order, which happened around the same time as another in Australia. Well, I'm not complaining because I basically received free items! Plus, I eventually got the Diaphanous. Win win.</span></span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHS-213Z-gBmC9RtJKXjZX9lc6Q3uzwBkyTYZjPIiQ2E3mPEpielwy_axMNtXlkG5FPcV8biHELWCoEbSqTjvHA6Ndm4vaLopznRWz0RE1g_DgOwrGDLE6FM0ASOzvSkysjN78Q9nMTY8/s1600/DSCF0377.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHS-213Z-gBmC9RtJKXjZX9lc6Q3uzwBkyTYZjPIiQ2E3mPEpielwy_axMNtXlkG5FPcV8biHELWCoEbSqTjvHA6Ndm4vaLopznRWz0RE1g_DgOwrGDLE6FM0ASOzvSkysjN78Q9nMTY8/s640/DSCF0377.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Above pictured is the Diaphanous powder. You can see the mesh sifter that avoids powder from pouring out. You can also see that the powder is so finely milled that you can actually breathe it (DON'T DO IT!). It's a translucent, loose powder to be used as a setting powder or a finishing powder. Karima often refers to it as powder for dry skin, and I can see why; it's not the most mattifying powder, which dry & dehydrated skin people (me!) would like. Its finish is satin, not entirely matte, with a bit of glow (which is what stops from making your face look dull or flat).</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Although I've received the wrong items on the first go, I wasn't even mad (after all the anticipation at that) because of the eye shadow quad. The texture... Let me tell you, the eye shadow powder just melts on your fingers. They're so smooth & creamy. They are not shimmery or anything, but they just have that glow that helps to oomph/lift the colours into life. Simply beautiful. The colours are gorgeous as well. They may look plain & boring to some, but they really are unlike other muted browns that I've seen. Top right is a bit reddened brown, and bottom left is golden/khaki brown. The colours are all multi-dimensional.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The colour (Specks of Cerise) from the Tinted Luxe Balm is right up my alley, but on my lips, it looked a bit aging... Perhaps, the colour is too muted for my complexion. It wears beautifully though, very smooth & moisturizing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I say, the Australian girl & I have similar taste in makeup as well :^)</div>

I like when I can write/review about a particular brand or a collective theme. For the most part, I do individual review because I can be more precise & give more information. However, when it's a new brand like today's post, <i>JUNGSAEMMOOL Beauty</i>, I'd rather dedicate an entire post to do an overall/general view on the brand to get a better idea. Also, new brands start with a fewer collection of items, and then build on, so it's a lot easier to get hold of most of their products. (I've purchased everything myself over time... maybe over 2 times oopsie.)<br />
<br />
First things first, a bit of background on the Jung Saem Mool Beauty brand. From the name of the brand, of course, Saem Mool Jung is a Korean celebrity makeup artist behind the brand. She is probably one of the most influential makeup artists in Korea, if not the most. She has trained many other popular celebrity makeup artists in Korea, and after 25 years of being in the makeup industry, she launched her own brand Jung Saem Mool Beauty in 2015.<br />
<br />
Her philosophy behind makeup is all about enhancing natural beauty. She is the one who created the natural/"invisible" makeup looks in Korea. Her years of creative arts background taught her about the colour wheel, and of course, she uses colour theory a lot when she makes people up. Suffice to say, she knows what she's doing hahaha.<br />
<br />
Moving on to her actual product line...<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The most popular/talked about/coveted (?) item is her foundation & concealer housed in a compact form with a sponge puff, called Star-cealer. She talked about why she named it such from a TV program, but I forget... I was the most wowed & the most curious about this product because I knew that Saem Mool Jung is all about that natural foundation looks, which I strive to achieve haha. Naturally, I would've assumed that her foundation would be as natural as your own skin.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The first thing I want to talk about Star-cealer foundation is that it's not the most hydrating foundation out there, and it did look cakey (too much!) on me when I didn't prep my skin accordingly or used wrong tools to apply it (I have dehydrated, dry skin). However, this foundation adheres so well on to my skin, giving the result of looking like my real skin. It really meshes well with my skin, and for that, hats off to the artist. I use a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to apply the foundation because it adds that extra moisture to avoid looking cakey, but look uber natural. Also, the coverage of the foundation alone is pretty medium; it covers the redness around my nose pretty well and other minor imperfections like the darkness around the undereye area & red marks from blemishes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The concealer, on the other hand, is more matte/drying than the foundation, so I tend not to use it, but the coverage is almost full. I still haven't mastered using it to look natural on my skin, but then again, it's a full-coverage product.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After application, the foundation has a satin finish; it's not completely matte that my skin looks one dimensional or dull, but it has that lit from within glow (not dewy), which renders this foundation looking natural.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another thing that I should talk about is the textured palette in between the foundation & concealer slots. This is where you can adjust the amount of foundation by gently patting instead of using the back of your hand, which works fine in both ways.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There is another, more hydrating version of the foundation & concealer called Star-cealer Illuminous, and I do prefer this version a lot more (for my skin type), but the original Star-cealer was part of the anniversary collection set that I bought. I will purchase the Illuminous version in a refill form to put in my compact after I'm done with the one I have.</div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;">Refining Multi Eye Drawing in Cobalt Blue</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
More makeup talk! Above pictured is the gel eye liner from the brand. It's available in 4 colours, but I chose the blue one because you know about me with navy eye liners ;^)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I bought this eye liner because it was the perfect navy gel eye liner that I've been thinking about, without the freaking glitters or shimmers! The colour is dark enough to come across as black, but it has that bright navy that just adds something extra than dull black colour. Navy on my eyes gives the definition that I want, but not too dull or stark like black.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Formula is creamy & application is easy; it doesn't skip on my eyes. It does smudge a bit, which shortens the wear-time... Not a fan of smudging eye liners (when I don't plan to do smudgy eye liner look), but adding the Bobbi Brown <span style="background-color: white; font-family: "molengo"; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">Eye Shadow in 36 Rich Navy does help (but I shouldn't need to do that extra step...).</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's pretty good gel liner because it's very pigmented, and I'm just a sucker for navy...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Essential Tinted Paste in Coral (left) & Ginger (right)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another product that's pretty good is the Essential Tinted Paste. This product is innovative in my perspective because its texture is what I expect from gel-to-powder formula, except it's not a gel-to-powder formula. The website describes the product texture as dried, thick powder type, but to me, it really comes as paste formula (the name!). It's soft enough that you can dent it with your fingers, but it applies like a cream, but it never turns powdery. What is it??? I can't say, but I really like the texture.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Colour payoff is pretty strong as well, but it's not hard to adjust the amount of pigment you want on your face. I actually prefer to use the sponge puff that comes with the Tinted Paste because all I have to do is dab a bit into the product & pat on my cheeks (hollow of my cheeks for the Ginger colour as a contour), and it's blended :^) Easy application.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Swatches will be at the bottom, but Coral colour is peachy pink and contains shimmers (doesn't translate on skin as shimmery, but gives a glow). Ginger colour is my light contour colour; it's ashy, darker skin colour.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Essential Enriched Mask</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For the next part of the post, I'll talk about skin care products from the brand. First up is the Essential Enriched Mask. I'm not a sheet mask girl, but I was given several masks from my online order, so I had to try them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thing to note about the skin care items from Jung Saem Mool Beauty & what I hate is that they contain both alcohol & perfume... These 2 absolutely have no benefit for your skin & destroy your skin barrier (I'm not talking about the fatty alcohols like cetearyl alcohol, I'm talking plain alcohol, ethanol, and the sorts). I really don't understand why Korean cosmetics company add heap amounts of these 2 ingredients in most of their skin care products... I really don't.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyway, the mask (without a doubt) contains behenyl alcohol & fragrance, but pretty far down the list (even low amounts could be bad for you sometimes...). I decided to try it because of the other good ingredients that are high up on the list. It's very moisturizing, and I do like it because it plumps my skin where makeup on top will apply very well. However, I'm not sure if I'll purchase the masks myself to continue using them...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another thing is Korean cosmetics company <i>rarely</i> show the full ingredient list, which frustrates the hell out of me because just like other items that I'm buying, I'd want to know exactly what I'm buying... I don't believe the marketing crap until I see that those claims match what's in the box especially in skin care because skin care items are absorbed into your skin... You'd want to make sure you know what your skin is absorbing... wouldn't you? Anyway... I've grumbled enough.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So here's the full ingredient list to the mask below:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQBkxfxcWY89T5gL_QFbpw7b4KHesS3dkgNLq7sGLrpKpempRxcduVti1UG_bAB_dFcL7DfMwFkqY3Eq3QNyy7L4z5smFUJo6HygWADm_AdXnuDk-E0UoNMZcstS9xZ4ID5Ab-cN0uHus/s1600/DSCF0290.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQBkxfxcWY89T5gL_QFbpw7b4KHesS3dkgNLq7sGLrpKpempRxcduVti1UG_bAB_dFcL7DfMwFkqY3Eq3QNyy7L4z5smFUJo6HygWADm_AdXnuDk-E0UoNMZcstS9xZ4ID5Ab-cN0uHus/s640/DSCF0290.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Another picture of the ingredient list to the sunscreen below:<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOZHWpLD0nXde48OgMeE_x-UeTEFNALpOaQeyUr810BN25NhkCxDrMMe5P2htwfh1jgbwV5pXDRplQWZJVAZwlMvTkQ7yuZHV2ztwL8Cphe_kvnKjbFLJpGwHk18n2EBQTUxg-wdfXu3o/s1600/DSCF0316.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOZHWpLD0nXde48OgMeE_x-UeTEFNALpOaQeyUr810BN25NhkCxDrMMe5P2htwfh1jgbwV5pXDRplQWZJVAZwlMvTkQ7yuZHV2ztwL8Cphe_kvnKjbFLJpGwHk18n2EBQTUxg-wdfXu3o/s640/DSCF0316.png" width="640" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've also bought the sunscreen because sunscreen is a must to the anti-aging. However, as I've hinted earlier, both the sunscreen & Mool Cream contain both alcohol & perfume. Can I just ramble a bit more? Because I'm a skin care junkie :^)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As you can see from the picture above, alcohol denat (short for denatured) is the 4th ingredient... WHAT? It's like putting pure alcohol directly on your skin. Did I buy a sunscreen or a pharmaceutical grade disinfectant? Alcohol is the last thing you'd want to put on your skin because it destroys your skin barrier, which does help let other ingredients to absorb better, but it also means that other bad things will be absorbed as well (acne bacteria?) Just, no. To say the least, I never looked back after trying in once because I broke out. My skin doesn't tolerate alcohol... Others are not so sensitive to alcohol, and they won't break out from using alcohol-containing products, but long-time use of alcohol is not a good idea... Perfume is a chronic irritant to your skin & has <i>zero</i> benefit to your skin. I'll stop repeating myself.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Something good about the sunscreen (and actually Mool Cream) is that the foundation glides on after because the sunscreen & Mool Cream act as a priming base for the foundation. I guess Saem Mool Jung, being a makeup artist, would use skin care products to prep for makeup, which it certainly can, but in my humble opinion, skin care should be formulated well with beneficial ingredients to give the nutrients that the skin needs, and not serve as a makeup primer as the primary purpose. Better skin also requires less makeup needed to cover.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
All in all, I would not recommend skin care products from the brand, but I really do like the makeup products. It'll be hard to disappoint from the makeup.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
This post is all about Rae Morris. Like Wayne Goss, Rae Morris is a professional makeup artist who launched her own brush line. Except, Rae is Australia's best makeup artist, still renowned as o<span style="font-family: inherit;">ne of the most influential makeup artists in the world, was the makeup director at L'Or<span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">é</span><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">al Paris, etc. She's kind of a big deal in the makeup world. She also publishes makeup books, which gave her the title of the best-selling author.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">Several years ago, Rae came out with magnetic brushes that look a lot different from the pictures in this post. The original collection of magnetic brushes had a mixed audience; some liked it & others didn't. Rae knew that there were rooms to perfect, so she relaunched her line, some of which are pictured here. She was the first to bring the idea of having magnets stuck to the brushes that are patented as the Magnetic Range.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">You can listen to Rae's reasons on why she created the Magnetic Range <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W76YQgnla0" target="_blank">here</a>; I've linked her youtube vid. Briefly, she wanted to have her brushes upright so that it's easier to identify a brush & grab it. It also works for hygienic reasons since the brushes won't touch each other. To do so, you'd also require a magnetic plate for the brushes to stand on. Rae has made hers, but her brushes will stick to any magnetic surface.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">To give a general overview of the line, Rae's brushes are not handmade like Wayne's, but they are equally soft. The bristles are not always squirrel hair although most darker hairs are; some are synthetic, while others are mix, still others are goat (white hairs typically), etc... The softness also varies due to purpose of each brush. Sonia from Sweet Makeup Temptations has also given a very thorough & detailed reviews, which I'll link <a href="http://www.sweetmakeuptemptations.com/2014/03/09/rae-morris-the-magnetic-collection-part-1/" target="_blank">here</a> if you're a brush fanatic. You'll definitely want to read her post :^)</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">Now on to my brief reviews on specific brushes...</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;">(from left to right): 6 deluxe pro blender, 7.5 deluxe round shader, 11 medium oval shadow, 12 lash line smudger, 14 perfect eyeliner, and 16 brow definer</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Brush 6: Deluxe Pro Blender</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is designated to be a very large eye shadow blender brush as you can see from its size. However, I bought this brush as a face powder brush. Since I have a dehydrated, sensitive skin, I don't need to powder all over. This brush size was thought handy, and until recently (meaning after getting Wayne Goss <b>Air-Brush</b>), I've used this brush to powder specific areas of my face. This brush is not as soft as the Air-Brush, but it served its purpose. It's retired until I find a new job for it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Brush 7.5: Deluxe Round Shader</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another eye shadow blender brush. I bought this brush out of Karima's recommendation from her vid review of the entire Magnetic Brush <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-iqriCzcaM" target="_blank">here</a> (also very useful to watch). She really loved this brush, and after using it, I understood why. This is another one of the brushes that is dummy-proof. It's the perfect size, not too big, not too small, blends effortlessly in a few sweeping motions. This is one of the softer brushes from Rae's brushes. A delight to use. I tend to use this blender brush more often than not.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Brush 11: Medium Oval Shadow</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another eye shadow brush that I bought from Karima's high recommendation. I would've thought that this brush would be too big for my eyes, but in reality it's not. It's not small for sure, but it's not overpowering in terms of size if you know what I mean. Another softer than average brush. It puts on colour without streaking or being too strong. Lovely.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Brush 12: Lash Line Smudger</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I always look for a brush that's soft enough to use on my lower lash line. This brush, sadly, didn't fit into its purpose like the name suggests. Some of the hairs in the brush pricks & tugs on my delicate skin. I can use Wayne Goss <b>5</b> for this purpose, so I use Rae's <b>12</b> for other purposes, mainly to use it flat against its larger surface as it's softer that way. It allows more precise work.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Brush 14: Perfect Eyeliner</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Very thin & precise eyeliner brush. I wanted to get the fatter one (<b>brush 13</b>), but it was sold out at the time, and I opted for this one. I don't really use this brush to be quite frank even if I want to use it more often simply because I'm lazy to do eyeliner... haha... Great brush tho!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Brush 16: Brow Definer</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Until recently, I didn't really use this brush either because this brush didn't quite work with eye brow powder... After getting Son&Park <b>Gel Bonding Eyebrow</b>, this brush is perfect!! the brush that comes with the gel eyebrow sucks (just being honest.. you could use it, but it's not as efficient as Rae's brow brush)... as with most brushes that are accompanied with products.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: x-small; text-align: center;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO6vb1y8q6RBADBc4s4OMxlcT7QLrr6sCKMuYCf7Y4R6kc1X-8zpRdIP-3iUiiErZtZhbUgrMLZ95OND9fDYLvO4MQqoY58H_q4hgeEDlvUe7GElxU26SiLAzeDRTaYIZJ9qzEwV93mqg/s1600/20160322_195814.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO6vb1y8q6RBADBc4s4OMxlcT7QLrr6sCKMuYCf7Y4R6kc1X-8zpRdIP-3iUiiErZtZhbUgrMLZ95OND9fDYLvO4MQqoY58H_q4hgeEDlvUe7GElxU26SiLAzeDRTaYIZJ9qzEwV93mqg/s640/20160322_195814.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">(from left to right): 12 lash line smudger, 14 perfect eyeliner, 16 brow definer, 18 brow brush, 19 lip brush, 23 liquid foundation, and 24 foundation contour</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<b>Brush 18: Brow Brush</b><br />
Eyebrow brush. It's huge, but that's why it takes less time & brush up your brows. It's not an essential brush to have, but I was intrigued when seeing this brush since I love brushes. I use this brush every morning to tame my brows & before I enhance my brows.<br />
<br />
<b>Brush 19: Lip Brush</b><br />
I absolutely love this brush. I love square lip brushes because I find that they are more precise & less clumsy than rounder/tapered ones. Maybe it's just me... Rae's lip brush just works.. I don't know how she did it. It applies lip products like a dream. On top of it, it washes clean & doesn't get stained (extra bonus!).<br />
<br />
<b>Brush 23: Liquid Foundation</b><br />
Stippling? brush for foundation. I normally cannot use stippling brushes for foundation application because they will micro-exfoliate my skin (and I exfoliate every day). Also, stippling brushes tend not to be soft enough to be used on my face. Rae's version is soft enough to use on my face, but it still micro-exfoliate my skin if I'm not careful. One thing though is that this brush will apply your foundation in a sweep. Simple take some foundation on to the brush (make sure to even out the foundation on the bristles by patting them at the back of your hand), stipple on to your face in areas you want to apply, and start blending in a circular motion. The longer, white bristles deposits the product & the shorter, black bristles will blend. Sonia has said that it was her staple brush, but I don't normally wear foundation (once again due to my laziness...), so I cannot say the same.<br />
<br />
<b>Brush 24: Foundation Contour</b><br />
Last brush to review! phew. I bought this brush thinking that it would work as the standard foundation brush, but I was wrong. You'll be very unhappy if you try to blend your foundation with this brush. This brush works best as laying down cream/liquid products. You'll need another brush to blend. I don't think I need this brush, but it's nice to have it nonetheless.<br />
<br />
(not pictured since it's a recent acquisition) <b>Brush 17: Mascara Applicator</b><br />
It's more of a tool rather than a brush. It has metal combs to apply mascara with. I don't use it for that (again lazy to do that, but it will apply mascara beautifully without clumping), and it can also separate lashes after the initial mascara application has clumped your lashes together. I bought this brush to actually comb though my makeup brushes... I like taking care of my brushes, and it's nice to brush through the bristles after you've washed them to detangle them. It's a nice tool :^)<br />
<br />
<br />
Of the brushes I've reviewed, the ones I'd recommend trying are <b>7.5</b>, <b>11</b>, and <b>19</b>. Brushes <b>7.5</b> & <b>11</b> are like a match made in heaven. They just complement each other so well in my eye shadow application. With them, I don't even need other brushes (unless I require more intricate work, but I'm too lazy to do that hahaha). Of course, I had to include the lip brush. It will change your lip game, just saying.<br />
<br />
You can get Rae Morris' Magnetic Range at her <a href="https://raemorris.com/product-category/brushes/" target="_blank">site</a> or at <a href="http://www.beautylish.com/b/rae-morris" target="_blank">Beautylish</a>. They both ship worldwide.<br />
<br />
Did you enjoy the trio? Let me know! Are you a brush fanatic like me? You can always click on the <i>brush</i> tab on your right & indulge more in brushes :^)<br />
<br />
Until next,<br />
stay whimsical <i>on a whimsical whim</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i><br /></i>
P.S. I want to introduce & talk about new products that I've been loving & also let down... hints? Jungsaemmool, Son&Park (you already know my end verdict though haha), Wayne Goss' Air-Brush, etc.</div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;">(from left to right): 01, 02, 03, 05, 06, 08, 14, 15, 18, 20</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm not sure where to start with Wayne Goss, but I think I should start with the man behind his brush line. If you've never heard of him, he's a professional makeup artist based in UK. He's been on youtube for I don't even know... I think I've been watching him since college? but he's been on youtube for longer than that of course. Before he got big on youtube, even before he launched his own brushes, I just liked him for his honesty in the world of hyped-up youtube/beauty world. He always gave genuine & honest reviews of products before he became more "confident."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On to his brush collection!<br />
<br />
Wayne created his brushes out of his love & passion for makeup brushes. Personally, I got into the whole makeup world because of the makeup brushes. I remember saving my allowances to buy & collect makeup brushes instead of something else (perhaps more practical?). I really respect him in this regard because if you just think about going through the process of finding and bonding with a supplier who will meet all of your needs & wants, let alone standard in something you want to create. I can be very nit-picky when it comes these sorts of things because of my high standard & perfectionism side. And, I think most people are when it comes to their own creation; you'd want to create something to blow people's mind because your name will be labelled behind your creation. I'm saying all of this to give credit & applaud Wayne on his brushes.<br />
<br />
His brushes really blew my mind when I first started using them. As he's repeatedly emphasized on them, they really are soft, and I mean really soft. After getting his & Rae Morris' brushes (will be talked about in the second part of the post later), I've used them almost exclusively (hence decided to give each of them full post of <i>FAB & FAV</i> trio). There are variations in terms of the softness due to different purposes of each brush (you'd want sturdier brush if you want to pack on colour, whereas you'd want a softer/fluffier brush if you want to blend the colour), but even the sturdier are soft... I didn't know that that was possible...<br />
<br />
This is a really general overview into his line, and because I've already talked a lot on them, I'm not sure if I should talk specifically into each of the brushes.. hmmm Let me just give brief descriptions on each, and we'll call it at that.<br />
<br />
Also, Wayne gives instructions & descriptions on each brush on his youtube channel, so if it intrigues you, you could check it there. I'll link his channel <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCvoAe__WFYMNAEN-C-CtYA" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSVhOg7LLSIYWMkAdTYyP4Gb5xxHrIgBN_N72lGonep3nFirn64vpNJBX1PAOuWX35q-XottpeZES44QwRpBL9Z-RIwLVJ5AqiYCC1l6bxSfknMBSfDxdMvsYGIlbdmHOyG-Y5ApjSTk4/s1600/20160322_200621_1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSVhOg7LLSIYWMkAdTYyP4Gb5xxHrIgBN_N72lGonep3nFirn64vpNJBX1PAOuWX35q-XottpeZES44QwRpBL9Z-RIwLVJ5AqiYCC1l6bxSfknMBSfDxdMvsYGIlbdmHOyG-Y5ApjSTk4/s640/20160322_200621_1.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">(from left to right): 01, 02, 03, 05, 06, 08, 14, 15, 18, 20</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
His brushes don't have names (instead just numbers) because his philosophy behind his brushes is that they all should be multifunctional, instead of designated labels. All of his brushes are handmade, cruelty-free from Japan (they didn't harm animals, but they just collected naturally shed hairs), requiring 20 people to make up 1 brush. With this in mind, I think his brushes are very fairly priced because I've seen ridiculously priced brushes that weren't even natural bristles, but synthetic. Also, all of his brushes are made of natural bristles, except 01 because it's a mix of both natural & synthetic hairs.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'll start with the first one. (I'll also link Wayne's vids on each brush number)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTemUTcM28Q" target="_blank">01</a></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Intended for foundation, but it could really be used for cream & liquid products. It's stubby & probably the most stiff brush in his line because you don't want liquids to move around as you apply them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awugS5ljjy4" target="_blank">02</a></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is truly the embodiment of multitasking brush. I love candlelight-shaped brushes because it's tapered at the tip for precision. Yet, it can also work great with blending if you just press in the brush more for the surrounding hairs to blend. Really soft brush.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHZfEp9u4N4" target="_blank">03</a></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Bigger eye brush. I usually don't opt for big brushes, but after giving it a go, I love bigger brushes now. They don't have as much precision as the smaller counterparts, but they blend like a dream in a sweep. Again, really soft!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>05</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is the renewed version because the previous <b>05</b> brush was nothing like this shape. I do prefer the renewed shape. It's a pencil brush, smaller version of <b>20</b>. This is like using a fine-tip pen. Allows great precision & control. Soft to be used underneath the eyes (and you know how that area is really sensitive) & doesn't prick your skin.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HShMQaTGhX4" target="_blank">06</a></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This was thought to be duped for MAC <b>217</b>, but I think they're very different, not only the different hairs on them. They just serve different purposes, in my humble opinion. Another really soft.. okay I think I'll stop saying soft because you get the point. This one is more a blending brush for me, but you could use it to put soft colour.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM3nFxukpj4" target="_blank">08</a></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Eyeliner brush. Every time I have to tightline (which is pretty much every time I do eyeliner), this is the brush I go for. It's soft (oopsie haha) to be used on the bed of your eyelashes. Great brush!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbl-Tr6vT6U" target="_blank">14</a></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love this brush! I really didn't think much of this brush because it seemed so fluffy that it wouldn't do a thing, but I was wrong. So many people love this brush, and there are reasons. It just diffuses colour as you apply it because it's fluffy. Easy brush to use, dummy-proof. I mainly use it for blushes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbl-Tr6vT6U" target="_blank">15</a></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fan brush, which I use a lot for highlighter application. Diffuse look instead of disco ball, if you know what I mean. Another great brush</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5gTGDBgmt8" target="_blank">18</a></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Eyeshadow brush that I thought was a dupe for MAC <b>239</b>, but I think they are again different. Obviously Wayne's <b>18</b> is a lot softer, and it gives more diffuse/blended eyeshadow application compared to the MAC counterpart.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5gTGDBgmt8" target="_blank">20</a></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Bigger pencil brush compared to <b>05</b>. I liked this brush because I just couldn't find soft pencil brush until the <b>20</b>. Not as precise as <b>05</b> due to its size, but it's still very useful brush.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Woa, that is everything! (But not really, because I can talk a lot more on them, but it won't end hahaha)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Once again, all of his brushes are multipurpose, so please check out Wayne's descriptions on them! Also, Sonia from <i>The Sweet Makeup Temptations</i> gave very detailed & valuable reviews on each of Wayne's brushes. I'll link them: <a href="http://www.sweetmakeuptemptations.com/2013/10/14/wayne-goss/" target="_blank">original collection</a> (brushes 01-08), <a href="http://www.sweetmakeuptemptations.com/2014/03/30/wayne-goss-the-face-and-the-eye-sets/" target="_blank">face & eye sets</a> (brushes 10-20), and <a href="http://www.sweetmakeuptemptations.com/2014/08/01/wayne-goss-updated-thoughts-and-giveaway/" target="_blank">updated thoughts</a>.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In case you want to buy & try few of his brushes, you can buy Wayne's brushes from <a href="http://www.beautylish.com/b/wayne-goss" target="_blank">Beautylish</a>; their customer service is impeccable, and they ship very fast. You can get free shipping if you buy more than $100 US. I've always bought Wayne's brushes from Beautylish, and I love Beautylish as well :^)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
P.S. Wayne occasionally releases limited edition brushes that he wants to create. I've missed out on them until yesterday when he released <b>The Air-Brush</b>. Let's just say that I bought 2, and I couldn't miss out on these this time.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Welcome to the 2nd installment of FAB & FAV series :^)<br />
It took me longer to actually find time to just sit down & write away... that's the life of a grad student, no? I'll dive in right away!<br />
<br />
Many people think that I don't wear makeup or that I barely wear makeup, but it's not true! I actually wear a lot of makeup. Let me clarify; I wear makeup that look like I'm not wearing any. I mean, I sometimes genuinely like the makeup-y look: wing eye liner, smokey eye (although rarity in my makeup looks), bold lip, etc... To be frank, on a day to day basis, I prefer to enhance my facial features simply because I don't have time to spend 15 minutes trying to perfect my wing liner. You know what I'm talking about. The pictures in this post show what I use as part of my "daily makeup." Sometimes, I incorporate more of the products, and other days, I just use my concealer & call it a day. Makeup is very much dependent on what am I in the mood for on that day.<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>These four are seriously what I use every.single.day, regardless of what I feel like.</u> (Other items heavily depend on my mood.)<br />
<br />
<b>Urban Decay</b> Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Light Neutral:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I use this everyday. Where & how much I apply it on my face varies depending on the coverage I want, but the rule of thumb is at least to cover my dark circles... I need it! (I think it deserves its own review post, but I don't know when....) There are so many reviews about this one in the internet world, so you'll find more comprehensive reviews out there.<br />
<br />
<b>Giorgio Armani</b> Luminous Silk Powder (original review <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.kr/2013/09/giorgio-armani-luminous-silk-powder-2.html" target="_blank">here</a>):</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've been using Chanel's <span style="background-color: white; font-family: "molengo"; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder SPF 15 in No. 20 ever since I've purchased it that I forgot how much I used to love Giorgio Armani's powder... I recently found that Chanel's powder didn't sit quite well with my face (maybe because I changed my concealer to UD), so I took out the luminous silk powder, and man, this stuff is amazing! This became the staple in my makeup routine. It sets my makeup & lasts all day. Now that the weather is warming up in Seoul, my T zone's been getting shinier throughout the day, but this powder locks it in.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "molengo"; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "molengo"; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;"><b>Holika Holika</b> Wonder Drawing Skinny Eyebrow in 01 Ash Black:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "molengo"; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "molengo"; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">I <i>always</i> draw my brows because I find that it structures my face in better proportions. Holika's skinny eyebrow pencil is thought to be a dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills' Brow Wiz, which also has a very fine nib. I haven't had the chance to use Anastasia's to compare the two, but I'm pretty happy with the Holika version. I love the fine nib on it so much so that I started "hating" the triangle-shaped ones... It's just so much easier to control & be precise, which is key to drawing eye brows. I highly recommend!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "molengo"; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "molengo"; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;"><b>A'pieu</b> Skinny Brow Fixer (Doraemon edition):</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "molengo"; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "molengo"; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">With the brow pencil, brow fixer is also a must for me because my eye brows want whatever shape they want that they need a bit of fixing... I've tried brow fixers from several other Korean drugstore brands, but I always found that the brow mascara wand was a bit too big or too chunky. After being unhappy for a while, I decided to search down the brow fixer that I've wanted, and as the name suggests, A'pieu's skinny brow fixer fits perfectly into my liking. The wand (pictured below) is very thin, which allows control & deposits no excess product. Too much product, and my eye brows will be bundled together. They position my eye brows with a gentle hold, and my eye brows don't feel crunchy (if you know what I'm talking about from very strong fixers).</span></div>

<br />
From my Z palette (the black one in the first picture), I use 2 eye shadows from <b>Paula's Choice</b> limited edition matte eye shadow palette. It's been long since I've depotted them from the actual palette, so I'm sorry that I couldn't label the names of individual shadow, but I mainly use the warm, matte softer brown ones. I usually pick these shades to contour my eyes, sort of like how you would contour your face, but with your eyes. This is called 음영 in Korean, which literally means shadow. For this purpose, the eye shadows tend to be softer in tone. You're not trying to smoke out these colours, but rather, you just want a hint of colour to contour your eyes.<br />
<br />
Moving on to the deep navy colour in the middle. This one is called "Rich Navy" from <b>Bobbi Brown</b>'s single matte eye shadows. I've purchased the shade to use it as my eye liner because I really like the softer effect of it compared to the true black. I do sometimes like the stark black liner, but I normally just wing out slightly using the navy eye shadow; it has less chance of smudging since it's powder instead of pencil or gel liners.<br />
<br />
For blush & highlight, I use the 2 shades from the right on the above swatch. The blush is from <b>Etude House</b> called "Peach Parfait," and it gives again <i>subtle</i> hues to my cheeks. It's peachy pink, leaning more to the pink side. Ever since I've purchased <b>Unpretty Rapstar</b> cosmetic's Smooth Whipping Lip & Cheek Cream though, I've been using the Coral Cream shade non-stop (swatched below). When I feel lazy, I'll apply the coral shade on my eyes & cheeks & lips to do my entire makeup. It best performs as a cream blush (weirdly, it doesn't really dry down as powder, but as cream), but I like it on my eyes as a base & on my lips to give a hint of colour. These colours are straight from the tube; they have amazing pigment to them.<br />
<br />
Back to the highlight... The one & only highlighter in my makeup collection is <b>Dior</b>'s discontinued (sorry) Diorskin Shimmer Powder in 002 Amber Diamond. Anyone remember this??? It had its own rave reviews throughout blogs & vids back in 2012? I'm so satisfied & happy with this one that I've never looked away. I've constantly used this highlighter rain or snow. I've talked about it numerous FAB & FAV posts featuring it & its review post <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.kr/2012/01/highlighter-bronzer.html" target="_blank">here</a>; the swatch looks so pathetic that I've updated the swatch on this post. It's shimmering in such a subtle, glowing way, nothing like a disco ball. There's even a strobing makeup trend at the moment, but I don't like obvious makeup (because I feel that it's too much for my liking).<br />
<br /></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinel-22IhfWvFlAyC_tOPWYzY6Ci1_qpYZQMHWQlqTiFAH1S-SVhyphenhyphenx26kY9uetBXYnonsHVQkDBnXkrSN8MIa9U8uyTwcn-e-aiUf6hgYKpMf7boB0yHj-t-uBb2weh91L802N0yVbFbo/s1600/20160321_210158.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinel-22IhfWvFlAyC_tOPWYzY6Ci1_qpYZQMHWQlqTiFAH1S-SVhyphenhyphenx26kY9uetBXYnonsHVQkDBnXkrSN8MIa9U8uyTwcn-e-aiUf6hgYKpMf7boB0yHj-t-uBb2weh91L802N0yVbFbo/s640/20160321_210158.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>Chanel</b> is an iconic brand, but I don't think their cosmetic line is of good quality-based, but more to do with colour-base<span style="font-family: inherit;">d. This is also the case for Le Crayon Kh<span style="background-color: white; line-height: 18.2px;">ôl in 69 Clair. I'm sure that there are longer lasting skin-colour eye liners than Chanel, but from what was available to me, Chanel's colour best matched my eyes... It's a tragedy because Chanel doesn't last all day, but I do get the effect that I want from skin-colour eye liner: look awake.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>Unpretty Rapstar</b> (the korean TV show) launched its own cosmetic line, and what drew me instantly was the Crazy Deep Lip Paint in 02 Tango Red. I love & believe that blood-red colour is the true red because it will suit you as it's a natural colour in your own body. When I swatched the colour in store, I immediately fell in love; I didn't care if it performed well as a lip stain, but after trying to remove the swatch on my hand, I realized that this is some serious lip stain. The bottom swatch above, the swatch is after rigorous "removal" with an oil-based makeup remover. This one is a keeper because it will last you even the day after you've <i>first</i> applied it on, through your meals & drinks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I skipped the mascara bits pictured from the very first picture, but these two are also very popular products that they need very little attention... I think. <b>Etude House</b>'s Dr. Mascara Fixer Volume Up Curl Fix Coating Fix has a cult following now, at least in Korea because it performs so well. It literally fixes the curl on your eye lashes without budging even a little bit. If you struggle with droopy lashes, try Dr. Mascara Fixer for volume, you'll no longer experience it regardless of what mascara you use. I still stick to waterproof mascaras just to be on the safe side, and for this, I use <b>Maybelline</b>'s The Falsies Volum' Express Waterproof version. I don't even know how many tubes I've went through, and so far, I always come back to this one after trying others.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Whoa, another lengthy post happened... I hope it was useful reading to you, and please try the products that I've recommended if it looks like you can benefit from. They really work for me that I've used them on a daily basis.</div>

P.S. Next up, the final post of FAB & FAV series will be on <i>BRUSHES</i>! Due to the amount of brushes I own & the usual length of post-wise, it'll most likely be split into 2 parts, focusing on one brand per post. Until then!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm starting a trio in FAB & FAV posts. I tend to prefer comprehensive posts that cover wider range of categories (as you can tell from my frequent FAB & FAV posts). First installment is on skin care.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've always loved Paula's Choice because they just work without irritating on my already sensitive & easily reddened skin. That, and I don't need to worry about products having alcohol or read reviews to see if they would really work on me. I've consistently used Paula's Choice for about 4 years now, and after moving to Seoul, my skin care products pretty much all changed to Paula's Choice, except a couple. You can read about my philosophy on approaching skin care/rave on Paula's Choice in this oldie, but a goodie post <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.kr/2012/01/skin-care.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>
<br />
Below are the reviews per product in the order of my skin care routine.<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Cleanser</u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Paula's Choice</b> Moisture Boost One Step Face Cleanser:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Before this one, I've loved & used the cleanser from the Skin Recovery line, but I didn't really like it after they've reformulated it, so I changed to the Moisture Boost line. It's lotion-y type in consistency, and it rinses well (I don't use a face cloth to remove it). I often just use this cleanser as it removes pretty much all of my makeup, except waterproof mascara & eye liners. Power cleanser!<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Toner</u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Paula's Choice</b> Clinical Instant Calm Advanced Redness Relief:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've only changed to this toner few weeks ago, but I've already seen less redness around my cheek area. I used to use & still love Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner as it really moisturizes (the most moisturizing toner I've ever used) during winter months. Resist toner really boosts moisture on my skin as the first layer. However, I really wanted to see changes on my skin regarding redness & uneven skin tone, so after consulting, I decided to change my toner to the Clinical toner. Really love it!<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Exfoliants</u><br />
<br />
*It's so important that exfoliants are formulated at the right concentration & at the right pH. You can find more information about this on Paula's Choice website <a href="http://www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skin-care-basics/_/infographic-exfoliants-101" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Paula's Choice</b> Skin Perfecting BHA Gel with <i>Betaine Salicylate</i>:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
(not BHA or salicylic acid as Korea doesn't allow BHA as over-the-counter product in higher concentrations as Paula's Choice uses)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I don't love this one to be honest because BHA/salicylic acid really works better than betaine salicylate on my skin. I feel like betaine salicylate is not as effective, but this is totally personal, and it might work better for you. Salicylic acid is also anti-inflammatory & anti-bacterial, so I remember it really calming my skin down after irritation (a bit counter-intuitive as BHA is an exfoliant, but it really is mildly effective!). Then again, there are people who are allergic to aspirin where salicylic acid is derived. I use BHA as a part of morning skin care routine.<br />
<br />
<b>Paula's Choice</b> Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel with Glycolic Acid:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I only started using AHA since a year ago because I wanted to deal with flakiness on my skin (I have dry skin). I couldn't totally give up on BHA as I also struggle with blemishes. After some experimenting, I liked using AHA daily at night time. It's a bit irritating because my skin is just uber sensitive & prefers lactic acid (which acts milder on my skin), but it works effectively.<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Acne Treatment</u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Paula's Choice</b> Resist Skin Transforming Multi-Correction Treatment with Azelaic Acid & BHA:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you've been following up with my blog, you'll know that I used to use benzoyl peroxide as my go-to acne treatment. However, it was such as hassle to find the rightly formulated benzoyl peroxide in Seoul, and somehow Paula's Choice doesn't offer benzoyl peroxide products in Korea... So, I looked into what they offer instead, and I found that they've substituted benzoyl peroxide with azelaic acid for acne treatment. There are 2: the one I've pictured above & the other as part of Clear line (targeted for acne). Their website states that they're both the same product, just packaged differently. However, I've looked closely into both (as a nerd I am), and I found out that the ingredient lists are slightly different. I've tried & used up the Clear line azelaic acid, and I really didn't like it. Something about the texture, perhaps? Resist line, however, works beautifully on my skin (I think they're pretty different). Resist line's azelaic acid is formulated creamier & silkier than the Clear line (purely based on my experience with both). Resist azelaic acid works better on my skin, somehow: It just absorbs better, and it really works to keep my blemishes at bay (maybe 1 per month?), which is what it's supposed to do. I know that it's too early to say this, but I think this might be my holy grail acne treatment product, serious!<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Skin Lightener</u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Paula's Choice</b> Resist Pure Radiance Skin Brightening Treatment:<br />
<br />
Remember how I've told you about getting down with uneven skin tone? From the same consultation, I was recommended to try this product. I was a bit skeptical at first because I've tried their skin lightening product that contained hydroquinone, but my skin just did not get along with it; it broke me out. (As a side note, hydroquinone is a melanin inhibitor, which has shown to fade dark spots & discolourations from research). Resist Pure Radiance contains a high concentration of niacinamide, which is also a melanin inhibitor. I found that it indeed brightened my skin & evened out the discolourations around my mouth area. I'll have to stick to it to maintain the results, and I'll give an update at a later time.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u>Moisturizers</u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm big on moisturizers as I have a dehydrated, combination skin. You'll see that I use a combination of moisturizers according to my needs.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Paula's Choice</b> Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I decided to change to this moisturizer even though it's targeted for normal to oily skin because it contains niacinamide. I think you get the theme here. My skin really loves niacinamide. And, because of it, I found that not only it helps with skin lightening, but it also moisturizes. The finish of it (once the product is fully absorbed) is quite dry to touch (as intended for the targeted skin types), but I didn't find that it was drying on my skin. Weirdly, it felt more moisturizing than some moisturizers that are targeted to dry skin in Paula's Choice product lines.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Paula's Choice </b>Skin Recovery <i>Light</i> Hydrating Treatment Mask:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is a mask, which has multiple functions: wash-off mask, leave-on moisturizer, makeup base/primer. It's a new product in Seoul (I don't see it launched in the US/Canada), and it's basically the previous version of current Skin Recovery Hydrating Mask (i.e. before the reformulation in 2012). I remember being heartbroken when Paula's Choice reformulated the mask because I did NOT like it, which is why I bought the light version (pre-reformulation) as soon as it was launched. Using it reminded me how much I loved the mask back in 2012. Even though Skin Recovery line is for dry skin, I think people with oily skin can also benefit a lot from this product (maybe as wash-off mask?). This product really moisturizes deep into my skin & primes my skin for my sunscreen. This is a rave review, and I feel like keep on ranting, but you can try it out for yourself. Then, you'll understand :^) The texture is silky cream. It just glides on (like those ads) & sinks in really well. It doesn't ball up like other creams.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Paula's Choice</b> Clinical Ultra-Rich Moisturizer with Coconut Oil & Shea Butter:<br />
<br />
I bought this product for my winter moisturizer, and it was really good in terms of its purpose. I now use it as my eye cream (when I remember to do so). I don't normally separate moisturizers for different areas, but I wanted to use up the product. The texture is quite thick; it's wise to warm up the product before putting it on to better absorb it. This is the most moisturizing product in my shelf, and I really love that it doesn't break out my skin as some rich products do around my mouth area.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u>Sunscreen</u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Paula's Choice</b> Hydralight Shine-Free Daily Complex SPF 30:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although my skin is dehydrated, I just don't like the feel of greasy sunscreens... It's sticky! I also fare better with mineral sunscreen than chemical. Chemical sunscreens tend to have silkier texture that doesn't leave behind a white cast, but it reddens my skin. Mineral sunscreen is better tolerated to those who have sensitive skin. Hydralight sunscreen is mineral-based, and it doesn't leave behind a white cast for me. It applies runny & a bit sticky, but after settling in, it's not sticky anymore. Mineral sunscreen tends to have that dry texture, and this product has a matte finish on top of it, which is definitely drying on my skin used alone, which is why I layer moisturizers underneath... It's a hassle to go through, but I'm willing to do it to avoid sticky sunscreens. If there's a mineral sunscreen that's not drying, I'd be the first one to try it. Other than the drying finish, I like this sunscreen.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u>Lip Balm</u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>PapayaGold</b> PawPaw Papaya Ointment:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This reminds me a lot of Eucerin's Aquaphor Healing Ointment, which I used to love! I couldn't get it anymore in Seoul without the hideous shipping fee. PapayaGold's ointment is not quite the same as Aquaphor, but it does its job on my easily peeling lips. It's less thick in texture compared to the Aquaphor.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u>Body Care</u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>CeraVe</b> Moisturizing Lotion:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is a staple in my body care routine... This or the Moisturizing Cream. I'm so so glad that Seoul now imports CeraVe (not the complete line, but oh well) in drugstores like Olive Young. I'm just hoping that they bring in CeraVe's Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM, which is my holy grail moisturizer. I love that CeraVe, in general, is really gentle to skin because they just stick to the basics. They may not be fancy, but I like them for that.</div>

This concludes this post... I think it may be the longest post yet. Did you make it here? If you did, I love you!<br />

Next installment on FAB & FAV will be on make up!<br />

<a name='more'></a><span style="text-align: justify;">It has been such a long time... the last time I've posted with an actual beauty content entry was over more than a year ago... I really haven't had time to keep up on my blog :^( but I finally had time to squeeze it in today! HURRAH! So, without further ado, let me get on with this post :^)</span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
All of the photos in this post was a quick snap because I haven't figured out a setting for taking photos in Seoul... so please excuse the quality...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The top picture displays what I've been using daily (from left to right):</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in Nude Radiance No. 01 (exactly what the title says)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation in NC25 (so moisturizing on my dry skin!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Paula's Choice Soft Cream Concealer in Soft Neutral (another moisturizing base)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Medium size Z palette with decanted eye shadows in rotation (some Paula's Choice, Tony Moly, Dior, VDL, and the discontinued Dior matte bronzer)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder SPF 15 in No. 20 (non-drying powder to set my base)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Etude House Drawing Eye Brow in 04 Dark Grey</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Etude House Keep My Brows Fixer</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Maybelline Lash Sensationalist Full Fan Effect Waterproof Mascara</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow in 36 Rich Navy (use this instead of an eyeliner to tightline)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-MAC Sheertone Blush in Tenderling (loving this as contour as in warming up the parameter of my face & as blush as well)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Dior Diorskin Shimmer Powder in 002 Amber Diamond (discontinued & received this ages ago, but this is the golden gem... in powder form. it's been battered due to heavy love, but just absolutely love this!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
On to skincare:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhps1FH1kKBsnU3MLHIwrnUaLynotk2Bw8vmF33pZZWQleYmtabVNbZUW8GJ4a7W1SGXXLaG8rmYvAYhP89X0LxWO8xhmx87alPjTk1tlbREWPeEUSqepy37GKfgFHvxr-H7MVdgh2ML7A/s1600/4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhps1FH1kKBsnU3MLHIwrnUaLynotk2Bw8vmF33pZZWQleYmtabVNbZUW8GJ4a7W1SGXXLaG8rmYvAYhP89X0LxWO8xhmx87alPjTk1tlbREWPeEUSqepy37GKfgFHvxr-H7MVdgh2ML7A/s640/4.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Again from left to right:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover (because only waterproof mascara can hold the curl on my eyelashes)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Bioderma Sensibio Make-up Removing Micelle solution (a staple)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Paula's Choice Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner (so moisturizing... can't believe this is a toner)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel Glycolic Acid (rotating this with BHA on every other night)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting BHA Gel (with Betaine Salicylate, wish Korea could allow higher percentage of salicylic acid though...)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Tok-Clear Gel 5% Benzoyl Peroxide (acne prevention & treatment)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Paula's Choice Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Vitamin C (for cooler months, can't-live-without product basically for the night routine)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Paula's Choice Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex SPF 30 (A MUST, moisturizer & SPF for daytime! can't emphasize enough about protecting your skin against UV rays... so important! especially against wrinkles)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
-Eucerin Aquaphor Skin Protectant Ointment (a dying lip balm... I don't know what to replace it with, so been abusing it for the last drop)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Now to BRUSHES! I just can't help it with the brushes... they're truly what really excites me in makeup!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6bXZiya5yiqDiw5CmgAb2jBKKtWXVwGfuEQr7v0blVA_fupCz5LhjwBdZFOi_8yJ92MwbWL8I6cD-nFKHWMfZqcfDjdXktxmzojXOpkkGiOJkZiZLX0A9zLWZGIoCYtp02YZ28QLfygc/s1600/3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6bXZiya5yiqDiw5CmgAb2jBKKtWXVwGfuEQr7v0blVA_fupCz5LhjwBdZFOi_8yJ92MwbWL8I6cD-nFKHWMfZqcfDjdXktxmzojXOpkkGiOJkZiZLX0A9zLWZGIoCYtp02YZ28QLfygc/s640/3.png" width="640" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The brushes have been cleaned & I've been consistently cleaning the same set of brushes since I've got them over Beautylish (btw, Beautylish is just so awesome... honestly, their customer service is unseen from anywhere! so helping & so willing). These brushes have been the powerhouse in applying makeup for me, and can I also just say... that I'm loving sponges as well??? I haven't bought the Beautyblender, but I like the sponge that I've discovered.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
from left to right:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Wayne Goss 20 (pencil brush for the lower lash line)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Rae Morris 11 Medium Oval Shadow (all-over-the-lid brush)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Wayne Goss 08 (tightline brush)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Piccasso Brush fb15 mini (base application)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Rae Morris 7.5 Deluxe Round Shader (blending brush)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Wayne Goss 02 (contour brush)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Wayne Goss 14 (powder brush)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Wayne Goss 15 (highlighter brush)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Rae Morris 19 Lip Brush</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Jaju 5-facet sponge (base application)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You can see that I've wholeheartedly switched all my brushes to Wayne Goss & Rae Morris (except the foundation brush from Piccasso) from MAC, NARS, Piccasso Brush etc. Wayne Goss & Rae Morris brushes are just so soft & so functional from the ones I have... honestly, I wish I could have the entire collection from Wayne Goss & Rae Morris, but of course, it will cost a fortune...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, for the quality of these brushes, their price is really not high! Trust me, I know my brushes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkAXvNjbX-xC6IW_SFZ55fifi31fBQh3RMNUp1sLnX9W4wZ_AXg8KjB1dDaxVOzYbGSbjQ73QRfmU55X12GrEWELzmlYfsZyHbjdcDUZg3RH0SY5J9Horz2dzjGMe1mr96QAM8hYpGyIk/s1600/6.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkAXvNjbX-xC6IW_SFZ55fifi31fBQh3RMNUp1sLnX9W4wZ_AXg8KjB1dDaxVOzYbGSbjQ73QRfmU55X12GrEWELzmlYfsZyHbjdcDUZg3RH0SY5J9Horz2dzjGMe1mr96QAM8hYpGyIk/s640/6.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The above picture is the sponges. It's from a Korean natural brand called Jaju. The pack costs around $2.50, which comes out really cheap/sponge. I tried using it wet thinking about the Beautyblender, and it works well wet, but I like it dry as well. The 5 facets around the sponge are not coated, so they're good when you want to sheer out your base. The 2 pentagon sides are coated, which is good for blending.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next on to tools & perfume...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="text-align: center;"> </span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: center;">Still using the Ladurée box for storing cotton pads & decanted candle jar for storing cotton buds :^) Going strong.</span></div>

Gifted perfume: Serge Lutens La fille de Berlin. This has become my signature scent, and this scent was what I've been looking for as my signature perfume. The search is over! (that is, until I discover a new one, but I don't think that'll likely happen in years) It smells like roses, and I mean natural, but with a bit of a twist. It smells sexy & toxicating like you're being seductive, but without being too much. Also love that it really lasts well on my skin (it is eau de parfum in the end...)</div>

I am truly sorry that I've been MIA for the longest time ever, without any notice or announcement ahead. I'm not even sure if there's anyone out there keeping up with my blog at this point (because I feel like I'm just talking to a wall whenever I write here), but since convocation, relocation happened, and this & that. I know, excuses & excuses...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've been working non-stop at a research laboratory, pretty much given up my fam life, social life, etc. It's been a havoc with work, training, learning, readjusting... Pure dedication to my research career, but in the mean while, please do understand that I never forgot or gave up on my blog (I did change bits <i>on a whimsical whim</i>, just slightly because I really want to change the layout of my blog + updates).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I intend to come back here with a regular dedication, just don't know when... But, until then, stay whimsical <i>on a whimsical whim</i>.<br />
<br />
warmly,<br />

<br />
It took me long enough to try a different top coat after Seche Vite just because I just couldn't bear to wait more than what it requires of Seche Vite. I was, on one hand, worried because of disappointment or regret of purchasing a top coat that wasn't needed to be purchased; okay, that came off a bit harsh, but I just loved Seche Vite!<br />
<br />
To be fair, I didn't write the review for Inm's Out The Door Top Coat as fast as I would've for other products simply because I wanted to make sure with different kinds of brands and because I really wanted to compare to Seche Vite very closely.<br />
<br />
In all honesty, Inm Out The Door and Seche Vite both have their own charms. I just can't say one's better than the other, but I personally prefer Inm Out The Door. Longevity-wise, Inm Out The Door lasts longer than Seche Vite in my particular case. I prefer the thin consistency of Inm, whereas Seche Vite is very thick & goopy. I do feel that the both top coats start to wear off after 2 days, Seche Vite starting to chip off much faster than Inm. However, Inm doesn't give as glossy finish as Seche Vite. Seche Vite stays put as glossy the entire time of wear, whereas Inm doesn't. Some may prefer not as glossy finish as Seche Vite, but I really like the high gloss of Seche Vite. As for the drying time, Seche Vite dries just a tad faster compared to Inm.<br />
<br />
One last thing that I prefer Inm over Seche Vite is that Inm doesn't get goopy after 2/3 of the bottle is gone. I'm sure everyone who's ever used Seche Vite will know that you can only use 2/3 of 1 Seche Vite bottle. I'm glad that that's not the case for Inm.</div>

<a name='more'></a><span style="text-align: justify;"><br /></span>
<span style="text-align: justify;">I've definitely enjoyed this one! If you've followed my blog for some time now, you probably figured it out or knew that I'm a lipstick girl than a blush girl. However, The Faceshop's Lovely Me:ex You & Face Blusher in 04 Baby Pink (what a long name!) is so easy to love.</span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's not the best blush out there, but for the price, it does its job. It builds rather slowly, but you can certainly build the intensity, although it's really hard to overdo with this blush. I'd say this blush is perfect for people who are afraid of blushes or not so good when it comes to blending the blush.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As far as the colour goes, it'll mostly suit the pale to light skin people. I'm not sure about how it'll go for people with deeper skin tones because it may come out chalky. Texture is actually chalky, which is why it's hard to overdo (which doesn't mean that you won't get any colour), but it's not hard to work with at all!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What I really like about this blush is mixing it with <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2014/03/aritaum-style-pop-blusher-no2-school.html" style="font-style: italic;" target="_blank">Aritaum's Style Pop Blusher in No.2 School Girl</a>! It just gives the right amount of pigment when mixed together, and it just gives me that perfect oomph & life to my face.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have fairly dense brows, which I'm so thankful to my dad (I really despise thin brows... just personal taste). However, that also means that I have to groom them more so than others with thinner brows because they sort of have their own ways in going about the shape.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The clear mascara gives a really good hold of my brows, fixing them in place for the most part of the day. The clear mascara is getting more and more tinted due the brow powders, but it doesn't affect its performance.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
One thing to note is that when applying the mascara, remove most of it at the back of your hand so that you don't end up with a gunk of mascara on your brows. It's tedious, but it makes such a difference, and you can then swoop the extra on your hand back into the tube. That way, you don't waste the product :^)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I do wish that the mascara wand was a bit smaller since I only use it for the brows, but I'm not complaining.</div>

I have been resisting the hype of They're Real! mascara from Benefit since it launched because I just refuse to pay so much for a mascara. However, why would I resist a freebie from Sephora birthday gift?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Because of the hype, I had a high expectation for this mascara. However, They're Real! didn't meet my expectation, at all! I really wanted to like this mascara, but on my lashes, it smudged after a few hours and didn't hold up the curl even after I let it dry a bit. I guess the formula is a bit too flexible on this one. The worst part is that I absolutely don't like the wand. I usually love the rubber wands, but this one was a no-no. I like NYC Sky Rise Lengthening mascara way better than They're Real!, and NYC is 1/10 of the price of Benefit. And, NYC mascara wand isn't even rubber.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I really didn't expect this much shock. I'm not sure if I should be happy because I won't have to spend so much in a mascara, or if I should be sad that the mascara didn't meet my expectation when I anticipated so much...</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I don't own a golden highligther, so Watt's Up! was a welcome addition for me to try. I love how the colour is very subtle against my complexion. However, it's not a subtle highlighter as my Dior (review <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2012/01/highlighter-bronzer.html" target="_blank">here</a>). It gives just a tad more than a sheen to the high points of my face. It is noticeable, but it's not too overwhelming. Blending is key with this product.</div>

Although there's NYC brand in Montreal, New York has it so much cheaper. I ran out of mascaras at the time, so I wanted to try NYC Sky Rise Lengthening mascara.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I usually go for waterproof mascaras because they hold up the curl, and regular mascaras don't... or so I thought. I've found a trick in holding the curl with a regular mascara!!! Hence, this purchase. The trick is to take out the wand from the tube, and let the mascara dry for a few minutes. I swear, the stiffness of nearly dried up mascara doesn't weigh down the curled eyelashes. I no longer have to deal with rubbing my eyes to get waterproof mascaras off!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
NYC Sky Rise Lengthening mascara is really good at separating the lashes into clean definition, while lengthening effect is noticeable, but not great. You can, of course, build it up, and it does lengthen a bit more. It also volumizes, but not as good as it lengthens. More importantly, it doesn't really smudge or flake.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For a couple of bucks, I think it's a really good mascara, and you definitely can't go wrong with this one!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a name='more'></a><br />
As winter hit, I needed a new moisturizing sunscreen. Most sunscreens are so drying on my winter skin. Clinique Body Cream SPF 30 feels greasy at first, but dries down in a very moisturizing feeling.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYzfMHRIovD41FsPqYOSFqgkXdWnYe4zgM-XXOYn4i2vuXhHK6axF3aOp8WaWLS3KA0OHz3Z7Il1PQ8OhHt3SXn_-Jbf2D5d_CsXIo0wtl7YVeFVqOS17uUURxT08Mkt7pW_EmQAFIfVY/s1600/DSC03696.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is definitely not a sunscreen for those who hate greasy feel. It's a thick cream, so those wanting a light sunscreen, look elsewhere. However, for those who want a really moisturizing sunscreen, this is great!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although it's labelled as body cream, the ingredients are the same as the one labelled as face cream in the same line in Clinique. If I'm paying for the same thing, of course I'd go for the one with a better value for money! There's also SPF 50 in the same line, but I figured SPF 30 was enough, and SPF 30 is considered as the new standard in sunscreen since most people don't apply as deliberately as recommended.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My main concern with every sunscreen is whether or not the product causes blemishes on my skin. I've been using the sunscreen for the past 2 months, and I can safely say that I've had no problem with blemishes. However, I do seem to get blocked pores just around my nose since I always have trouble with that area. It's oilier than other areas of my face, but it's also the most dehydrated area. I have yet to figure out how to manage my skin care for it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Overall, I really like the sunscreen!</div>

I never gave much thoughts on cotton pads, but after trying Shiseido Facial cottons, my thoughts have completely changed!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I always saved my money on cotton pads because I go by them so quickly with removing makeup and nail varnishes. However, the cheaper ones tend to leave bits of cotton on my face & they always tear with excessive uses. With Shiseido, none of those shenanigans. In fact, it's not that expensive when you think about it because it contains 165 cotton pads! When you break down the prices, it's really not that bad.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's so soft on the face. I don't think I can go back to the regular drugstore brand cotton pads...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Remember the <i><a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2014/01/ny-haul.html" target="_blank">NY HAUL</a></i> post? I showed the exact same Ladurée box as above in that post. The reason being, I store my day-to-day Shiseido cotton pads in the box! And, it's perfect in size as you can see above. I used to store round cotton pads in one of the smaller beakers I have, but after switching to the rectangular Shiseido cotton pads, beakers didn't really work out. I didn't want to just decorate my room with the empty box since I love utilizing whatever I have (and, I can't even think about throwing away such a pretty box!). I personally prefer to close the box since I hate having dust accumulate over time.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I got inspired by The Beauty Look Book utilizing Diptyque candle glasses for several organization ideas (post <a href="http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/2013/11/diptyque-candle-size-comparison.html" target="_blank">here</a> and how to clean candle jars <a href="http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/2013/07/diptyque-candle-jars-recycled.html" target="_blank">here</a>).</div>

It was time that I looked more into the world of blushes. I'm not a blush person (I'm more of a lipstick person, if anything), but I decided to try different colours in this colour-fading winter time.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Aritaum Style Pop Blusher in No.2 School Girl is a mix of lavender and light purple. It gives a very nice sheen on to my face. It really gives a life to my pale face without being obvious as a blush. The payoff isn't the greatest, but you can definitely build it up without giving much effort. It's not the greatest in texture, but it's not hard to work with either. It has more stiff texture compared to other creamy powder blushes. For $10, it's really not that bad.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Overall, I really like this blush, and the colour is so unique that I'm glad that I tried it!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a name='more'></a><br />
Of all things in Tom Ford beauty, I've always wanted to try their brushes because as you know, I'm obsessed with makeup brushes. I initially wanted to buy 2 brushes, one being Cream Foundation brush, and the other being Shade & Illuminate brush.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, I couldn't justify buying 2 brushes since they're so highly priced (yikes!). Also, I don't own that many cream products to try the Shade & Illuminate brush. I just reasoned that I'll get the brush when I buy Shade & Illuminate product.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkTEoMJtc8cvxBZgwGKwDs59qgDZIWDVooMXncwwDMc4882kcCNga47t9pG96HY-bMQJcwJOdDfOaHEMzBWlhz1HWAIRuEI38zcMzm8t4KXTsR0_QY7qjYgtB2qxCE1EywQhZLqJaW1AE/s640/DSC03646.png" height="480" width="640" /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
On to the Cream Foundation brush review, not only is it the second most expensive brush I own, but it's also one of the densest brushes I own. I was worried that it might leave brush strokes when applying foundation, but surprisingly, it worked better than my Piccasso Brush FB15 foundation brush (review <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2012/05/fab-fav-brushes.html" target="_blank">here</a>).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-size: x-small;">view from the side</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Because it's a dense brush, I can get a fairly medium coverage even with a light foundation like Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation (review <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2013/05/bourjois-healthy-mix-serum-gel.html" target="_blank">here</a>). The bristles are the softest yet. MAC brushes feel scratchy in comparison, but without the Tom Ford brush at hand, you wouldn't really know the difference. I hate to admit, but this Tom Ford brush is softer than Piccasso Brush brushes. Now, I really want to invest in Tom Ford brushes (oh no!).</div>

<a name='more'></a><br />
It's been more than a year and a half since my last post on <i><a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2012/05/daily-essentials.html" target="_blank">DAILY ESSENTIALS</a></i> I noticed that the original post was mainly intended for summer months, so here's the winter edition update on my new daily essentials.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWSEwD8sp_UheiaN5fnc7I4YI9kIaDlOu0Pb93-rZHnQymrw-9NUjB0FHus8GS0PwPKUHQaiacCvP629ucCGHwcCNVGB3nD44OwUV9F-lOHDZNFQjmzD2Qnl2QT3Dfsct5oGjedXHb27E/s1600/DSC03794.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWSEwD8sp_UheiaN5fnc7I4YI9kIaDlOu0Pb93-rZHnQymrw-9NUjB0FHus8GS0PwPKUHQaiacCvP629ucCGHwcCNVGB3nD44OwUV9F-lOHDZNFQjmzD2Qnl2QT3Dfsct5oGjedXHb27E/s1600/DSC03794.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWSEwD8sp_UheiaN5fnc7I4YI9kIaDlOu0Pb93-rZHnQymrw-9NUjB0FHus8GS0PwPKUHQaiacCvP629ucCGHwcCNVGB3nD44OwUV9F-lOHDZNFQjmzD2Qnl2QT3Dfsct5oGjedXHb27E/s640/DSC03794.png" height="472" width="640" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Brushes in the pic: MAC 217 & 239 (for eye shadows), NARS 27 Yachiyo Kabuki Brush (for blush), and Piccasso Brush mini 301 & mini 402 (for brows)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The key differences from the original post are the use of foundation & eye shadows. I tend to skip foundation during summer because I really dislike the feeling of having something on my face. Although <b>Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation</b> (review <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2013/05/bourjois-healthy-mix-serum-gel.html" target="_blank">here</a>) is light, I'm not sure how it'll cope with the humid weather in Korea. I tend to mix the foundation with a drop or two of olive oil (decanted into the white bottle in the pic above) to give more a dewy effect, and it really helps to spread better on skin. I use <b>Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer </b>in 320 Ivory (review <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2013/04/maybelline-dream-lumi-touch.html" target="_blank">here</a>) for concealing under the eyes. Oh, and I completely use my fingers in gentle tapping motion to apply both the foundation and the concealer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On the other hand, I skip using powder during winter because I just can't use it, not even <span id="goog_1569587958"></span>Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Powder<span id="goog_1569587959"></span> (review <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2013/09/giorgio-armani-luminous-silk-powder-2.html" target="_blank">here</a>). Montreal winter is deadly, let's just leave it at that.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I rotate between eye shadows: namely, the middle shade of <b>Dior Impression Cuir Eye Palette</b> (review & swatch <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2012/02/dior-impression-cuir-eye-palette.html" target="_blank">here</a>), <b>Tony Moly Delight Mono Shadow Matte</b> in 05 Brown Cookie (review & swatch <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2013/10/tony-moly-delight-mono-shadow-matte-05.html" target="_blank">here</a>), and decanted <b>Ellis Faas Creamy Eye</b> E107 (review & swatch <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2012/01/ellis-faas.html#more" target="_blank">here</a>).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For brows, I switched to powders from pencils because I wanted more grayish shade (I can't seem to find affordable gray-brown brow pencil). I mix the bottom shades of mini <b>Dior Couture Colour Eye Shadow Palette</b> in 734 Grège (review & swatch <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2013/06/dior-diorshow-new-look-catwalk-eye.html" target="_blank">here</a>) to get the exact brow colour I want. Although the gray colour has shimmer, it's not noticeable. I finish off by using <b>Maybelline Great Lash Mascara</b> in Clear (review soon) to fix the brows in place.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In winter, I like something to brighten up my face. I use <b>Aritaum Style Pop Blusher</b> in No.2 School Girl (review soon), which is lavendar pink shade with shimmer. And, as always, I finish by curling my eyelashes (a must!) with the trust-worthy Shiseido Eyelash Curler (review <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2012/04/shiseido-eyelash-curler.html" target="_blank">here</a>).<br />
<br />
P.S. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY <3</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've been wanting to paint my nails in a vampy red colour like Chanel Le Vernis in 18 Rouge Noir, but then I didn't want it to be as dark as Rouge Noir (not that I don't love that colour because I do!! just not for the time being ~.~)<br />
<br />
I then realized that I don't have any brown-reds, so I just put 1 coat of brown varnish (Inglot Nail Enamel in 119) & 2 coats of red (<i><a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2012/10/vodka-caviar.html" target="_blank">OPI Vodka & Caviar</a></i>). I'm not really satisfied with the overall result because as you can see, the varnish is not smooth in application; blotches here and there. However, I'm very satisfied with the overall effect & the colour :^)</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a name='more'></a><br />
It's such a shame that Montreal doesn't carry CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM. This is one of the products that I've been dying to try because I've always wanted a good moisturizer for winter!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This moisturizer really moisturizes well! If it weren't for Paula's Choice reviews, I would've not really looked into it. The price is very fair considering its size. All I'm hoping is that it'll last me for the entire duration of Montreal winter because I don't know what I'll do when I run out.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPGoDNwsNq3SssCQckGGUJaRMXkF8wVbYQ09VXP8gTECjrWuoRnc5mp5rlUEMVXC7CsKHb2d2mCn0rP2eyh6wsovnMH0GuDxalqN43PR0MzNoRmkQsHUqG6PztXrLnijiJuBt2mgZVbqA/s640/DSC03678.png" height="512" width="640" /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I layer it on top of my Olay serum and concentrate around the areas that are most dry. I top it off with a drop or two of pure virgin olive oil sort as a seal to lock in the moisturizer. With all 3, my skin feels very supple, soft, and very hydrated.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a name='more'></a><br />
It's been a while since I last talked about skin care items, so I decided to do something different. I've decided to wrap up the standouts of 2013 in the skin care department.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The biggest discovery & surprise in 2013 was no doubt cold pressed extra virgin <b>olive oil</b>! I've always heard that olive oil is good, but I was skeptical to try it out on my skin until September of 2013. I just love this stuff! It covers my skin from head to toe, literally. I put a dab on my hair, face, and body. I used to mainly mix it with my skin care or body care products, but I've tested & found out that dabbing few drops as the last step is the best way to lock in moisture.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I don't carry that giant container as seen in the above pic. Rather, I decant it into a smaller non-transparent bottle; it's more convenient & less heavy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you're thinking of trying out olive oil, I highly suggest <i>cold pressed</i> & <i>extra virgin</i> because I've read that the cold pressed method ensures less loss of extracting antioxidant ingredients from olives.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Moving on,</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-<b>CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser</b> (review <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2013/03/cerave-hydrating-cleanser.html" target="_blank">here</a>)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-<b>Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment</b> (all-time BHA fav)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-<b>Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 5</b> (5% benzoyl peroxide)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-<b>Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum, Fragrance-Free</b> (can't live without this! one of my desert island product, review <a href="http://onawhimsicalwhim.blogspot.ca/2012/01/skin-care.html" target="_blank">here</a>)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-<b>MAC Strobe Cream</b> (I can't believe I haven't tried this out until 2013... just amazing instant glow/sheen without looking like grease; enlightens my skin like no other)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-<b>CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM</b> (review soon)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-<b>Clinique Sun SPF 30 Body Cream</b> (review soon, same product as Face Cream)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-<b>Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment</b> (labelled as Skin Protectant Ointment in Canada, can't live without!)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
All of the mentioned products above are my fail-safe, fool-proof products for <i>me</i>. Because skin care can be very subjective & depends on individuals, I tend to be careful in recommending skin care products to other people. However, I have tried several other products in each category of skin care departments, and these products are the ones that I genuinely come back to over the months & years (with the exceptions of the discoveries made in 2013).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Things like sunscreen & moisturizers also change depending on the time of the year, so I can't say Clinique Sun SPF 30 Body Cream will be my sunscreen during summer because it's just too moisturizing for summer weather. It's more important to tweak your skin care items according to your skin's needs, so don't be restricted in using skin care. With this in mind, I'll end the post here.</div>

<span style="text-align: justify;">Recently dyed my hair blue. I just wanted to do something crazy, and blue hair's been something I've always wanted to try. It's my last semester in undergrad, and I'm in my young 20's. The time to do this type of thing, right? I don't regret one bit, although the colour did come out a lot brighter & lighter than I expected. I wanted more of a dark cobalt colour. Anyway, I'm satisfied.</span></div>
