I went into Pharmaprix (equivalent to Shopper's Drug Mart, in French) to get a new mascara because my other ones were totally done. What started with a new mascara purchase became a huge makeup splurge. And, I have a good excuse.

 

Everything (apart from the mascara and the lipstick) was on sale. If that's not a good enough excuse, then oh well, too bad. At least I tried.

Maybelline Volum' Express One by One Waterproof Mascara

I've never bought same mascara twice because I still haven't found the perfect mascara for me (Dior Iconic is so not affordable for 3-4 months usage). This time, I bought Maybelline's One by One (in waterproof), and I'm experimenting with it. So far, it seems all right; the wand is quite massive for my liking. I'll give a more in-depth review on my upcoming review on mascaras (maybe in between my eye shadow palette review series).

 Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss 205 Sandstone Shimmer & 605 Cranberry Cocktail

My second lip gloss purchase of entire my beauté life. I'm a lipstick person, so I never bothered with lip glosses after the horrible MAC Plushglass. However, Beautypedia showed me that these glosses were worth the purchase, so when I saw these at nearly 50% off, I decided to get 2. One in nude, another in red (of course!). They are comfortable and pleasant to wear because they are not sticky. They have a bit of scent, but not overpowering. The colours are noticeable on my lips as well, which is a bonus.

CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Lipcolor 530 Dusty Rose & top coat

Outlast All-Day Lipcolor is NOT a lip gloss. They are, in fact, cream/liquid lipstick. I didn't expect much on these, but they were the most outstanding ones from my purchase list. The pigment is full-on strong (which I so did not expect), and the staying power is amazing as well (if you skip the top coat). The top coat gives that glossy, high-shine finish. I personally prefer to wear this without the top coat, but it's still very nice. (It was also on sale, yay.)

CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick 305 Hot

This shade, 305 Hot, was sold out for quite a while. I really wanted a red lipstick, just because. Although this wasn't on sale, I realized that there were only 2 left, so I had to pick it up. I was mostly surprised by its staying power. It wore solid 6-7 hours, with drinking water here and there + muching on snacks. I did apply this lipstick in the traditional way without a lip liner (Lisa Eldridge did an amazing tutorial on it here). It's not drying (and it's not a matte lipstick), but it doesn't keep your lips moisturized either. I recommend putting a good layer of your lip balm and then let it saturate your lips before blotting it to apply the lipstick.

Dusty Rose is really, really strong pink, Sandstone Shimmer is nude with shimmer, Cranberry Cocktail is red with shimmer, and Hot is vibrant pink red. (Shimmer is the glosses aren't that noticeable, which I like.)
